7th Annual Façade Design and Engineering Middle East
The 6th Annual Façade Design & Engineering Middle East Summit brought together over 200 leading architects, engineers and suppliers to discuss the challenges of creating iconic, sustainable and culturally relevant facades.
This year’s event saw some of the liveliest debates yet, with discussion revolving around how to define the future cultural identity of facades in the Middle East. Panellists looked at how to apply lessons from the past to modern facades and how to reconnect facades with ‘human’ elements.
Projects showcased were far-ranging and highlights included the low-tech yet high-impact award-winning façade of the Crit Building in Kent, UK and the new Singapore National Stadium, which provided interesting lessons for the upcoming 2022 stadiums.
The new ‘Future of Façade Lighting’ Focus Day was also very well received, attracting over 60 attendees, and explored innovative lighting technology, how to integrate facades with their environment and the appropriate use of media facades.
